I’m sure you’ve heard the horror stories. A colleague clicked on something he shouldn’t have and now all of his files are encrypted. A family member opens an unknown email and now pop-ups are appearing all over the place. A friend downloads “a free movie” and now can’t access her WiFi.
By now, you should know that if you are on the internet, your computer needs to be protected from malicious viruses and malware/spyware. We mentioned some ways to do that in our previous blog post “Your Computer Needs You (Why?)”. Today, we’d like to expand on that some and answer the one question we get the most often: Which anti-virus is the best?
One of the most frequent questions we get asked at Geek Easy Computers, is “How do I avoid getting viruses?” Ask 10 different people, you’ll get 10 different answers. But there are many factors that contribute to getting (or avoiding) viruses.
According to Wikipedia, "Malware, short for malicious software, consists of programming (code, scripts, active content, and other software) designed to disrupt or deny operation, gather information that leads to loss of privacy or exploitation, gain unauthorized access to system resources, and other abusive behavior.[1] The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code."
