Google Chrome

One of the questions we get asked frequently is “Which browser is the best?.” Well the answer to that question is subjective on many factors, but our typical recommendation is Google Chrome. In this article we tell you why.

Lack of visual clutter – Chrome by default gives you the most screen “real estate”. It can be customized to add/subtract to that setup to suit your tastes. New users who are used to Internet Explorer may need some time to adjust to not seeing menus and icons at the top of the browser. The browser allows you to conveniently create shortcuts to web applications you regularly use, which you can place on your desktop for quick and easy access.

Speed – Chrome was specifically designed to quickly and efficiently load, display and interact with the vast array of applications on the web, boasting a built-in Flash and PDF reader.

Google Sync – By logging into your Google account, Chrome can sync your bookmarks, browser preferences and extensions so that they are available on any device. This is great because it allows you to easily access your own add-ons and preferences regardless of what computer you are using. On computers with multiple users, each user can can access their own configuration just by signing in.

Security – Chrome is secure on the web with built-in malware and phishing protection, and auto updates. Navigating to a website suspected of phishing or containing malware, the browser displays a warning. We recommend further protecting your computer with paid antivirus and antimalware applications, but Chrome has some great security features built-in.

Sandboxing helps block malware and isolates what happens in one tab from affecting the others, so once you close a tab, that process is completely terminated. Sandboxing is one method of preventing malware from installing itself on your computer.

Extensions – Extensions are small software programs that can modify and enhance the functionality of the Chrome browser. Chrome is the king of extensions. There are extensions for many popular applications, both to integrate them into Chrome itself, or to modify/customize the web interfaces of services!

Although there are other notable browsers available (i.e. Firefox, Opera), Google Chrome has become nearly ubiquitous as the browser “everybody” uses. From its speed, compatibility, and customization, it’s hard to go wrong with Chrome as your “daily driver” browser.
