Service: You Get What You Pay For…

“You get what you pay for.”.  It’s a phrase that’s been around for ages and I’m sure you are familiar with it.  But do you truly know what it means?  The phrase gets used a lot, but like most “catchphrases”, people don’t typically give it any real thought.

You-Get-What-You-Pay-For

Many instances exist in this world, where it is perfectly fine to “cheap out” on them.  In fact, in some cases it is even advantageous to seek the lowest price for a product.  These are items where the level of quality isn’t dictated by the cost, or the quality variance is trivial.  For me, those tend to be items like toilet paper, or bulk goods like noodles or rice.  In my years of purchasing, I’ve found that even some higher production products like motor oil really doesn’t have enough of a quality difference to justify paying $4-5 dollars more a quart than the store/generic brand.  For the average consumer this is true of many items they regularly purchase.

On the other side of the coin, you have instances where the level of quality is absolutely dictated by the cost.  Right at the top of this list are provided services.  Services that are provided directly by the entity to you, the customer.  These are not where you want to necessarily shop for the lowest price.  For example, if you needed dental work, would you really want the guy who made the lowest bid to work on you?  Would you have confidence in his skill or the quality of his work?  I wouldn’t.  For him to be able to have the lowest price, it stands to reason that he had to cut corners somewhere.  You don’t want those cut corners to affect your care right?

Now this doesn’t mean that the most expensive is the best choice either.  The ideal situation is to find a balance between great service and reasonable pricing.  This really applies to services such as computer repair or IT management.

With IT management or computer repair services, you don’t want the guy working out of his basement, or that just “does this on the side”, or is “the kid that’s good with computers”.  You also don’t want the shop that is mysteriously cheaper than all of its’ competitors.  In all of those examples you will most certainly get what you pay for; a shortcut, potentially amateur service with  no real guarantees of quality or competence.  Why spend your hard earned money with amateurs?  What you really want is a service provider with a proven record of professionalism and quality service.  You want experienced technicians with industry recognized certifications.  You want to do business with a company that stands behind its work and reputation, like we do here at Geek Easy.  Here, you will also get what you pay for: quality service and a guaranteed level of professional competence.

As a business owner or manager, you know that your computer infrastructure & network are important to the operation of your business.  Would you trust such a mission critical aspect of your day to day operation to someone who is a ‘computer whiz’, or would you put it in the hands of someone who has years of experience managing, monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting networks in a professional, confidential, and timely manner?  When your backups fail or your company email stops working, are you going to rely on Jimmy from the mailroom to “figure it out”, or are you going to enlist the services of a professional, accredited company with a stellar reputation to get your business back to business!  Whenever you have computer issues, are you going to hope “that college kid” is still available to help you out, or are you going to sign on with an IT management company that will proactively monitor your systems and handle any problems that occur, as soon as they occur so you can continue to do what you do best!

That’s Geek Easy Computers.  We aren’t the cheapest in town.  We don’t try to be.  We offer exceptional customer service at a reasonable price.  The money that you spend with us gets invested back into the company.  It pays for our technicians continuing education so that they are always up to date with the latest developments.  It is invested in new equipment so that our technicians have the latest in diagnostic technology in order to serve you better.  It is used to continually grow and diversify our company to be able to offer you more services and options.  This is why where you spend your money is important.  This is why “you get what you pay for” is so relevant when it comes your computer needs.  The next time you have a computer issue, and someone recommends “George, from down the street..”.  Think about that phrase, and bring your computer to the proven experts at Geek Easy Computers and get the service you deserve.  We want to make your technology easy!
